Why do your fingers wrinkle in water?

Have you ever wondered why they wrinkle? fingers us when we are in the water for a while?

The reason is that the blood vessels under the skin constrict as an involuntary reaction of the nervous system to the immersion of the skin in water. This causes the upper layers of the skin to “pull together” and wrinkle.

Scientists deduced this when they noticed that the skin of people with nerve damage does not wrinkle in water. So simple!
