A little dark chocolate improves blood pressure in just one month

Portuguese researchers believe this is because health is richer in powerful antioxidant flavonoids.

Her lovers chocolate they have reason to rejoice, as scientists have discovered that such a delicacy is good for our health. Milk chocolate has benefits but chocolate with 90% cocoa has the strongest effect. Portuguese researchers believe this is because health is richer in powerful antioxidant flavonoids.

The research was conducted by the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra led by Dr. Telmo Pereira. The benefits of chocolate have been studied extensively, especially when it comes to heart health. Flavonoids have been linked to reduced insulin resistance, weight regulation and faster wound healing. There is a huge amount of scientific interest in how dark chocolate affects our well-being. For this particular study, researchers had 30 healthy adults, ages 18-27, eat 20 grams of chocolate for 1 month.

Half of the participants ate chocolate with 55% of cocoa, while the rest with 90%. Heart rate and arterial stiffness were measured 30 days before the experiment and 2 days after it ended. They were asked not to consume other flavonoid foods such as berries, tea or wine. The results revealed that the participants saw a dramatic improvement in their blood pressure but the effect was more dramatic in the 90% cocoa group. This group also had healthier heart rates but no change in heart structure. Maybe because the study only lasted 30 days.

The scientists hope their findings will support chocolate consumption as a preventative measure to improve health. Future research should examine how it interacts with the rest of our diet and how it affects well-being. Ideally, we should know what the ideal amount is that the heart benefits from.
